This directory contains data pertaining to the paper ‘An optical Fourier transform coprocessor with direct phase determination,’ by Macfaden, Gordon & Wilkinson (2017). The data is organised with reference to the figures in the paper. Descriptions of these data files are as follows. FIG 2: This figure pertains to a characterised two-pass twisted nematic SLM system which is used to impose a certain optical modulation. The exercise of characterising, designing and optimising this system is its own paper (Characterisation, design, and optimisation of a two-pass twisted nematic liquid crystal spatial light modulator system for arbitrary complex modulation, Macfaden & Wilkinson (2016)). The coordinates used in these figures are simply sequential indices, and as such the data is number grids. FIG 4: This figure has many parts. The contents is sub-divided between different files. -Figure4a.xls This figure contains the initial conditions and Fourier domain representation (complex amplitude). -Figure4b.xls This figure contains the detailed figures for t=t_1. Specifically, the input, decomposed real and complex and even and odd components, the transforms of these and recombined function (both computed and optically evaluated). -Figure4c.xls This figure contains the Fourier domain representation of the thermal distribution at subsequent times, along with the optical and discrete Fourier transform - Visualisation 1.avi This is the visualisation of cooling over many other times, described in the Figure 4 caption. - Visualisation 2.avi This is a temporally smoothed version of Visualisation 1.avi. This shows the underlying physical process more clearly by reducing the effect of some of the experimental optical noise
